Binge-Worthy Brilliance: Empirical Consulting Solutions’ Streaming Must-Watch List

Our (unofficial) series of team recommendations continues!

In this newest compilation, the Empirical team has put together a list of streaming series recommendations. The catalyst for this blog comes from the frequent question, “Have you watched anything good recently?”

Over the years, it would be an understatement to say that the television landscape has undergone a seismic shift … gone are the days of scheduled programming and limited options. Instead, we find ourselves immersed in an era of boundless creativity with endless choices. And with this ever-expanding landscape of content, navigating the plethora of options can be daunting.

We’ve taken it as a mission to share our favorite streaming series, and in some cases we hope to uncover the hidden gems, for anyone in search of the next great binge-worthy obsession.

Our team’s curated selection of streaming programs includes a wide range streaming series. Whatever your preferred genre or topic, we are confident that you’ll find an idea or two in our list!

So grab your remote, settle into your favorite spot on the couch, and let us guide you through our choices to make your streaming experience more enjoyable.

My current favorite streaming show is Special Ops: Lioness (Paramount+), an engaging spy thriller.
~ Chris Lee, Managing Partner

I enjoyed The Bear (Hulu). As I put myself through college while waitressing, I loved this show for its accurate although dramatic depiction of the restaurant industry.  The character development was superb and does a phenomenal job of depicting the passion, sense of ownership, and stress of so many of the chefs that I worked with.  It’s intense, but so, so good!
~ Karen Butz, HR Partner

My favorite series is currently American Dynasty (Fox Nation). It provides great historical and multigenerational insight on American family dynasties such as the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Gettys, Fords, Hearsts, Bushes, Kennedys, and Morgans. There are amazing facts and learnings revealed (not taught in history class!) so that the viewer better understands how each of the profiled industrialists, inventors, and entrepreneurs created multi-generation wealth and overcame challenges.
~ Jonathan Peters, Senior Partner

My favorite streaming show is Bad Sisters (Apple TV). An Irish comedy television series developed by Sharon Horgan, Dave Finkel, and Brett Baer, this series is set in Dublin and filmed on location in Ireland, and is based on the Flemish series Clan. The tight-knit Garvey sisters have always looked out for each other. When their brother-in-law winds up dead, his life insurers launch an investigation to prove malicious intent.
~ Traci Imel, Operations Director

I don’t watch much adult TV, but I binge-watched Ted Lasso Season 3 (Apple TV+). It is one of the most inspirational, uplifting, and funny shows I have ever watched; truly all three seasons were incredible.
Grab a snack, put your feet up, and be prepared to laugh, cry, and love. Live like Ted!
~ Laurie Beasley, HR Director

I recently watched Mad Men (various channels) for a second time; this series is truly the gift that keeps on giving. The view goes behind the scenes to view how communication and advertising campaigns are developed across a wide range of industries (plus the character development is pretty amazing!).  I also watched the law-themed Suits (Peacock), which not only has extraordinary writing and acting but also throws out many thought-provoking business sub-plots.
~ Laurel Cavalluzzo, Marketing Partner

I feel like HBO Max has the strongest list of TV shows, comedy, and movies. There are some good true crime documentaries I’ve enjoyed. Two specific recommendations include:
– The Big Brunch which is a fun cooking show
– Our Flag Means Death, a fun comedy about … pirates
~ Greg Mays, Digital Marketing Associate

I have enjoyed Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Peacock); it is a funny show introduced to me by my teen son. It’s one of the few shows we watch together.
~ Howard Seibel, Marketing Director

I’m a big fan of streaming, and my top five series from last year were: Industry (HBO), Succession (HBO Max), Andor (Disney Plus), Mythic Quest (Apple TV), and House of the Dragon (HBO). These have all kept me entertained for hours.
~ Nilay Patel, Marketing Associate

My favorite show last year was Drops of God (Apple TV). Set in France and Japan, it is an amazing story of family, competition, and my favorite, wine!
~ Penni Barton, Marketing Director

I watch Time Team, Banijay History, and Timeline for archeology and history.
I enjoy Retropower, Harry’s Garage, and Goodwood Road and Racing for cars and racing, with a mainly historic focus.
My favorite model railway channels are Luke Towan, Everard Juction, Chadwick, and Dartside Scenics.
~ Simon Dukes, Marketing Associate
